Welcome to my space! My name is Meaghan, and I am so glad you are here.
I was born in the beautiful city of Halifax and grew up in a loving military family. My grandpa served in the army, and my dad was in the Navy, instilling in me a deep sense of duty and community from a young age. Although most of my younger years were spent in Ottawa, my family and I made the heartfelt decision to return to Halifax in 2022. Here, my partner, who is also in the Navy, and I are actively involved in supporting and participating in local events, spreading our love for this vibrant community.
My journey as a parent to two wonderful children, who are just 21 months apart, has been nothing short of transformative. Living a dynamic and ever-changing life with them has taught me invaluable lessons in patience, resilience, and the importance of self-care. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to support and care for others.
Before moving back to Halifax, I completed my education in Ottawa and dedicated ten years to working in social services. My roles as a case manager at a homeless shelter and an affordable housing facility, along with my experience as a registered social worker, have equipped me with a deep understanding of the diverse needs of individuals and families. However, after giving birth to my daughter, I felt a strong calling to redirect my career path towards something that harmonizes with my personal and professional values—doula work.
As a doula, I bring a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to my practice, focusing on providing empathetic, relatable, and considerate support for new parents during the prenatal and postpartum phases. My goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported.
Outside of my professional life, I have a passion for exploring new hobbies and embracing the joys of creativity. From baking and cooking to hiking, biking, and swimming, I love to stay active and engaged with the world around me. Sewing has also become a creative outlet for me, and I've had fun crafting unique clothing items. Recently, I started learning how to cut hair—my partner can attest to my adventurous spirit in this new endeavor!
Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I look forward to the opportunity to support and walk alongside you on your journey into parenthood.
